Our Story
Haus Heirlooms was added to the Miller family operation in 2005. The little greenhouse that John and Irene had opened to the public in 1991 had grown steadily over the years, especially as the children had grown as well and pitched into the work. The greenhouse provided traffic and publicity for the furniture, and Jonessa, the oldest Miller daughter, provided the management for the budding furniture enterprise. John worked closely with Jonessa in those early years, building relationships with both builders and buyers. Providing high-quality well-built furniture went well with his goals of providing quality and service in the local construction industry.
The furniture enterprise managed to survive through the recession in '08 and Jonessa's absence for a year in 2013 as she volunteered at a handicapped children's home in Virginia. In 2014, a opportunity presented itself on Main Street in McConnelville, and the Millers capitalized on it, moving the furniture down to a storefront beside Jo-Ad Specialty Market. Sales picked up briskly in the new location as locals and even those from a distance began to recognize Haus Heirlooms as a outstanding source for high-quality handcrafted furniture.
In 2016, change came again, as Jonessa married Joshua Gingerich and settled down to homemaking. Since then Joshua has been managing the furniture store, handling sales and delivery as well as doing some secretary work for John's construction crew.
Joshua deeply enjoys relating to people (especially to his wife), :) and loves to meet new people in the store. He prioritizes reading and engaging in thought-provoking discussions on what really matters in life. On the wild side, he enjoys pursuing fresh fish and four-legged fast food in the Ohio countryside.
Thank you for taking time to visit our website. If you have any questions or comments, we would be happy to hear from you. We look forward to meeting you!

Our Furniture
At Haus Heirlooms, we specialize in quality handcrafted furniture made in Ohio. In the Holmes and Wayne counties of northeastern Ohio nestle many small Amish woodworking shops. These shops, often only one or two family operations, consistently turn out some of the best American furniture of our time. Using quality native hardwoods and time-tested methods, these builders carefully craft furniture that is designed to add beauty, function, and value to homes all over the US.
Nearly all of these shops do wholesale only, preferring to let furniture stores work with the customer to find exactly what matches the customer's needs. This allows the builders to focus on woodworking, which is what they do best, besides raising their families with deep respect for God, His Word, the local church, and of course, the family. Often the family will work together in the shops, sons learning the trade from the father and eventually taking over the responsibilities as the father ages.
The choices available in Amish furniture are so comprehensive it can be overwhelming. Of course, one can always simply purchase a piece off the floor, but often questions come up like... "Can I get this in a different color/size/style...?"
Yes! There is nearly always a myriad of options to customize that unique piece of furniture for you. Here are some of the basic options that are available.
Woods: Oak, Maple, Brown Maple (Soft Maple) Cherry, Rustic Cherry, Quartersawn White Oak, Rustic Quartersawn White Oak, Hickory, Rustic Hickory, and Walnut.
Stains: Choose from our in-house collection of OCS (Ohio Certified Stain) samples, or specify another stain. Our builders can use the same stain your cabinets or existing furniture presently sport.
Sizes: Our builders do have standard sizes for their furniture pieces, but if you need it proportioned a little differently to fit your space or style, it is a simple as specifying it on the order.
How does an order work? We require 20% downpayment when the order is placed. We email, fax, or call in the order, and the builder confirms the order. The furniture is built to order (except for the few circumstances where it is a stock item, which is more common with small pieces or poly outdoor furniture), so there is a wait time while your furniture is built and finished. This lead time is generally around eight weeks. Upon completion, we pick up the furniture directly from the builder or finish shop and bring back to our store or deliver straight to your residence. In either instance, we give you a call to let you know that your furniture is ready to pick up or to set up a delivery time.
